Summer field meeting, Thursday 02nd June, Co Waterford

This year ITLUS heads for Co. Waterford, a County we may never have visited before. For anyone continuing on from the previous day, accommodation is available in Lismore in the Ballyrafter Country House Hotel (058 54002) or the Lismore House Hotel (058 72966). For those arriving on the day we will follow the same format as recent years. We will start with breakfast from 7.30am to finish at 9.00am. The day is very full and busy so it is important that we keep to our time schedule.

The itinerary for the day is outlined below:

07.30-09.00 Breakfast (Ballyrafter House Hotel)

09.30-11.30 Leave to visit farm of Shane Maxwell to see the conversion of a 400 acre tillage farm as part of a dairy farm expansion from 350 to 700 cow (9 miles)

11.30-12.30 Visit to farm of cheese maker Eamon Lonergan (2miles)

12.30-2.30 Lunch at Ballyrafter House Hotel (9 Miles)

 

After Lunch talk by Mr John Flahavan on his business strategy

 

2.30-3.30 Visit Crinnaghtaun Apple Farm run by the Keane family of Cappoquinn Estate (6 miles)

3.30-5.00 Visit to Tourin farm owned by Kristen Jameson and managed by Jim Wilson growing cereals and break crops. Included in this visit will be a talk by Julian Martin of Waste Film Agrilife.

 

The day will finish with some light refreshments.

The charge for this day is also €50 per person to cover breakfast, lunch and other refreshments, as well as presents for our guests.
